Jamie Turmanis
Director & Founder

Jamie has extensive experience in the product development, sales, marketing and operational elements of an events business.

Prior to founding Quest Events, Jamie worked for IIR, informa, Terrapinn and AC Events in Sydney. He has also worked in Hong Kong with Beacon Events. During his 15+ years in the events industry, Jamie has led the development and growth of some of Australia’s and Asia’s leading commercial events. He has launched and grown hundreds of successful conferences, exhibitions and training seminars in the Australian and Asian markets from 2003 to the present day.

He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of Technology, Sydney. He enjoys a variety of sports including cricket, football, squash, surfing and golf - and has run in two marathons.

Aleks Zids
Managing Director

As one of the first members of the Quest Events’ team, Aleks has had experience across all of Quest’s business areas, including production, marketing, sales and operations.

Since 2012, Aleks has been instrumental in launching and growing some of the company's most successful events. He has helped ensure that Quest brand is recognised for superior quality, with events that deliver real value for all involved.

Outside of work Aleks loves to learn about new trends, technology and history along with being outdoors, whether that be surfing, running, cycling or playing football.

'I focus on ensuring that every Quest event has the highest quality speakers addressing the most pertinent and current topics. I like creating interactive events with lots of opportunities for questions, discussions and of course networking, to ensure that everybody gets the most out of each opportunity.'

Jon Treherne
Division Director - Quest Ignite

After a 2 year hiatus, Jon re-joins Quest Events as the Divisional Director of Quest Ignite.  He has a long history of creating and growing events within the tech sector.

Having worked with business leaders over the last 25 years he is able to quickly understand the issues facing both the buyers and sellers within vertical markets and create event content that delivers answers to current and future questions while helping drive that industry forward.

In his spare time Jon says, 'I’m UBER Dad, all my kids need is an app to arrange drop off at ballet, rugby or Scouts'. On the rare occasion when he’s not ferrying children around the Northern Beaches, you’ll find him riding motorbikes, reading books and keeping up to date on tech and market trends.

'I believe that long term mutually beneficial business relationships start with a hand shake, the sharing of knowledge and solving problems. In the digital age where people are more engaged with a screen, events are the perfect setting to meet people who can help.'

Louisa Theobald
Divisional Director - Quest Events

Louisa is a new addition to the Quest Events management team after 6 years with Reed Exhibitions Australia managing their largest portfolio of retail events.

Celebrating her 20th year in events, exhibitions and conference organisation, she has worked on multiple industry events across 3 continents with experience in both large-scale corporate organisations and smaller owner operated companies in the UK, Dubai and now Australia. She brings an extensive track record of experience including commercial strategy, launches, business development, team management and relationship building. Her career passion is simple – to deliver kick-ass events.

Louisa balances her career with raising her 8 year old son and singing in alternative punk rock band Pepperhead.

Marcel Baillache
Marketing Director

Marcel has over 20 years’ experience,  working for global conference companies in Africa, Asia and Australia – developing marketing strategies for smaller training events to large scale conferences/exhibitions, with 2,000+ attendees.

He has a keen interest in developing marketing talent and growing delegate attendance year on year, by constantly innovating and testing new digital channels. His extensive conference marketing experience includes content marketing, social media, email marketing and lead generation.

Marcel has successfully launched events into new markets including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, China, New Zealand, Kenya, and Botswana to name a few.

Lee Plumridge
Head of Delegate Sales

Lee is a global sales expert with over a decade’s worth of experience and achievement in strategic operational sales. Lee joined the team in 2018, bringing an extensive track record of managing high performing sales teams through business development, team management and relationship building, both locally and abroad.

Lee brings with him a fresh perspective to delegate sales; his straight-talking approach enables him to connect and understand what delegates want and what drives attendance. His talent is around developing solutions and delivering optimal results. 

In his spare time Lee likes to cook and enjoys travelling, whilst taking in local cultures. Lee is an avid reader, and is often found spending a relaxing Sunday at one of the many local beaches with a good book.

Helen Bateman

Database Manager

Helen leads the Database Research team based in Australia, the Philippines and India. She is responsible for ensuring that the team are identifying and building the right marketing lists for Quest Events’ broad range of events, making sure each list is accurate and complete. Helen is also a part of the Quest Events CRM development team.

Helen has a BA in Leisure Management from the University of Technology Sydney. In her spare time she enjoys water sports including swimming and SCUBA diving. Helen also loves to travel to destinations that are off the tourist trail and experience new cultures and food.
