Edward Blakely
Founder and Chair
Future Cities Collaborative

One of the world's leading scholars and practitioners of urban policy, Professor Edward Blakely has been Dean of the School of Urban Planning and Development at the University of Southern California and Dean of the Robert J. Milano Graduate School of Management and Urban Policy, New School University in New York City.

He currently serves as an Honorary Professor in Urban Policy at The United States Studies Centre at The University of Sydney. He is the Founder and Chair of the Future Cities Collaborative. In addition to Professor Blakely's background in academia, the Professor has an extensive record of public service that includes advising the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the city of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, state and federal governments in Australia and the United States, as well as governments in Korea, Japan, Sweden, Indonesia, New Zealand and Vietnam.

The Future Cities Collaborative allows Professor Blakely to combine his passion for sustainable urban design with his expertise in teaching and fostering capacity building in all levels of government.


Alastair Bor

Alastair leads the technical implementation of Transport for NSW’s most transformative and disruptive business initiatives from electronic ticketing concessions to real-time vehicle tracking to new business models such as point-to-point transport. Alastair has also played a key role in shaping TfNSW's Future Transport Roadmap.

With a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Brandeis University and an MBA from the Tuck School at Dartmouth College, Alastair has 25 years of experience in policy setting, strategy formulation and the implementation of organisational transformation across the public and private sectors in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Thailand, the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada.

Jonathan Englert is a noted communications strategist specializing in disruptive technology, cybersecurity and the sharing economy.  He is the Head of Communications for GoGet carshare, Australia’s first and largest carsharing company which has over 90,000 members and 2,000 vehicles across Australia.

Arjan Rensen
Regional Manager NSW/ACT
ARRB Group - Australian Driverless Vehicle Initiative

Arjan Rensen is ARRB’s Regional Manager for NSW and ACT. Arjan combines a technical degree (MSc) and a management degree (MBA). He has excellent analytical skills and extensive experience in improving business processes with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and business results.

Arjan is passionate about contributing to ARRB’s strategy to be a trusted advisor on roads and transport. Improving the performance of our road network and reducing casualties on our roads are Arjan’s key areas of interest.
Arjan is involved in a wide range of projects for Australian and international clients.
Arjan is also involved in the Australian Driverless Vehicle Initiative (ADVI). The purpose of ADVI is to accelerate the safe introduction of driverless vehicles on Australian roads. ADVI is a collaboration with national and international partners from government, research organisations and industry. Arjan is supporting ADVI by managing part of the collaboration with partners and by representing ADVI at conferences and information meetings.


Andrew Parkinson
Senior Project Officer - Legislation
Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure

Andrew is a qualified lawyer in the legal and commercial unit of the SA Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure, and is also Treasurer of the Consumers Association of SA. 

He has been involved in realising a number of greenfield proposals including implementing the GST while with the SA Crown Solicitor’s Office, and regulating the provision of insurance mediation services while with the UK Financial Services Authority.  He is currently working on allowing for the next generation of vehicle technologies. 

Andrew is the SA advisor to the National Transport Commission on the Australian Road Rules.
