Carol Capulong is a Global Process Manager for Customer Data in Shell Finance Operations, responsible for data quality management and actively involved in the delivery of key data improvement projects. Carol has 25 years of finance experience in Shell’s Upstream (Exploration and Production) and Downstream businesses covering areas such as business planning and budgeting, risk assessment, joint venture and project accounting, and financial and management reporting. She is also one of Shell’s subject matter experts on production sharing contracts. Before her current role, Carol spent 6 years in Qatar, assumed key finance roles in 2 of Shell’s largest mega projects to date, the Pearl Gas to Liquids (GTL) Plant and Qatargas IV (LNG).
Carol is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and has a double degree in Business Administration and Accountancy from the University of the Philippines.
Rebecca Fealy is a Senior Director with the Australian Taxation Office, and has led initiatives in data warehousing, enterprise reporting, analytics, data modelling, information policy, data quality, enterprise taxonomy, and associated information governance and business intelligence disciplines over the past 15 years in federal government. She is an advocate for design to enable better outcomes across the information management lifecycle. "Know your business, know the climate you're operating in, and deliver on thoughtful, reconciled designs to achieve better outcomes". Outside of the orderly world of data governance, Rebecca wrangles kids aged 2 & 6, as well as her partner - to whom she now owes yet another leave pass.
As an analyst and consultant Mike specialises in business intelligence, enterprise business integration, and data management. With over 25 years of IT experience, he has consulted for dozens of companies on business intelligence, data management and business integration. He has spoken at events all over the world and written numerous articles. Mike is a resident expert on the Business Intelligence Network in the UK and other European countries providing articles, blogs, and his insights on the industry. Formerly he was a principal and co-founder of Codd and Date Europe Limited the inventors of the Relational Model, a Chief Architect at Teradata on the Teradata DBMS, and European Managing Director of Database Associates. He teaches popular Enterprise 2.0 master classes in Operational Business Intelligence and Performance Management, Enterprise Data Governance, Master Data Management, and Service Oriented Architecture.
Staffan is currently acting as CIO at SmartClinics where he is leading the work on a new cloud solution for General Practice medical clinics. Staffan has unique eHealth experience and joined SmartClinics from NeHTA, where he was eSolutions Manager for the national Personally Controlled Electronic Health Record (PCEHR) project.
Prior to taking on the PCEHR challenge, Staffan was Software Development Director at HCN and responsible for HCN's portfolio of desktop applications for General Practitioners and specialists. Staffan has previously held a number of technical lead roles at various IT companies including the iconic internet service provider OzEmail.
Staffan has built his career on a solid foundation in computer science in which he holds both a B. Sc and M. Sc, as well as undertaking post graduate research for a number of years at Linkoping University, Sweden which culminated in his thesis on Object Oriented database systems and the awarding of his Ph. Lic.
In 2013 Neil moved into a new role as Director of Strategic Planning and Information at Macquarie University. The role looks after the longer term University strategy, helping optimise the portfolio of initiatives based on risk, returns, capital and people. In addition he continues to manage the teams who produce actionable insights to assist the University to remain at the forefront of academic and research excellence in Australia. Glenn has been in the Banking industry for over 30 years, with some time spent outside the Corporate world in Hospitality, Management Consulting and Database construction.
Glenn is currently Head of Business Systems & Data Quality at ANZ Bank, working in Wholesale Lending Operations and before this, within the Institutional Division of ANZ. His focus is from a business perspective, and what can be done to improve the management of data across a broad range of non-integrated core system platforms within the constraints of existing operating models and organisational cost pressures.
David's passion is to enable corporate high performance through the delivery of trusted master data and reference data.
David has worked in numerous finance and banking roles in Australia. For the last 8 years he has been in several roles dedicated to improving the master data and reference data in National Australia Bank, focused on leading and embedding changes aimed at achieving measurable improvements in performance.
Prior to this David held various leadership roles in Operations, Business Banking and Personal Banking, and has complemented this practical experience with a Masters in Business Leadership, which explored the crucial role leadership plays in complex environments to develop the right culture, identify strategic opportunities and facilitate the delivery of successful change and innovation in order to enable sustainable organisational competitive advantage.

Captain Bryan Guenther is currently in charge of leading the transformation of RightShip's Ship Vetting Information System (SVIS), the backbone of the modern vetting business.Prior to joining RightShip Bryan was VP of Business Development at Heidenreich Innovations where he was in charge of sales and support of existing business, IT deployments, and identifying new areas of business. While at Heidenreich Innovations, he was the company's representative on the OCIMF North American Sire Working group and the point of contact for Oil Company vetting teams.
From 2004 to 2009, Bryan was the Business Project Manager at BP in the company's Sunbury, UK office. There he provided the vision, leadership and delivery of BP Shippings's largest transformational IT project to date for the global Marine Assurance team. Known as iMAS, it is recognized as the leading ship vetting system across the industry. His previous roles at BP included Senior Vetting and Port Information Superintendent in the US and UK.
Prior to joining BP, Bryan held positions at ARCO including that of Vessel Chartering, Operations, Demurrage and Vetting Coordinator. He also held roles as Project Manager at OptimumLogistics, a Stolt initiative, creating internet solutions for the bulk chemical and container industry as well as the Director of Technology and Maritime Industry Expert at MaritimeDirect in New York City.
In her current role, Rashmi has management oversight of more than 300 applications design at MetLife. Her team includes many associates in the US and India that offer design services for various line of business in MetLife. The scope of her portfolio encompasses more than 9000 databases on various technology platforms - IBM, Oracle, Microsoft, Sybase containing over 250 Terabytes of data. Rashmi has set a direction for the organisation to become recognised as part of the application development teams they support, as trusted advisors to enhance the competitive value of MetLife's data assets. The services provided by her team include: Data Planning (requirements analysis and configuration assessment), Data Architecture (Conceptual, logical and Physical Design), Data Governance, Data Quality Assessments, Database Administration support for Schema Change Management and Performance Monitoring and Tuning.

Gabrielle Harrison is the Senior Data Analyst, Integration and Information Management at RMIT University. In this role she is responsible for enterprise data modelling, data analysis and is the Enterprise Data Steward. Gabrielle has over 20 years experience in the education sector, spending 15 years focusing on business analysis, systems analysis, functional analysis and application management, before moving into Information Management in 2012. Gabrielle is Certified Data Management Professional, Certified Business Intelligence Professional, Data Governance and Stewardship Professional and a Certified Data Vault Data Modeller.
James Hartwright recently joined News Corp Australia to head up a new Data Services team with the responsibility of leveraging the burgeoning volume of data being generated across 140+ online, newspaper, and magazine brands – in a controlled and compliant manner. Belying his humble beginnings as the son of a goat-herder, James has travelled the globe for the last 20 years, delivering data-driven insights solutions for hundreds of clients: from major enterprises down to small businesses. James is a firm believer that data, correctly organised, adds value to any industry situation; as he has shown in his previous roles at GE Money and Acxiom across retail, finance, high tech, utilities, and now at News Corp in the publishing arena.
Eric Haslehurst leads Westpac's Customer Information Management team and is the Business Owner of the Group Customer Master system. His role also encompasses data quality and governance for all of Westpac Group's domestic brands (Westpac, St.George, BankSA, Bank of Melbourne, RAMS and BT Financial Services). Eric has played a pivotal role in setting the direction and establishing the Group Customer Master (GCM) Program which implemented Oracle's Universal Customer Master. The GCM Program established a new standard for customer information management at Westpac and in doing so overcame legacy thinking and reset the organisation’s view of Customer Master Data Management.
Prior to joining Westpac 7 yrs ago, Eric was a Management Consultant specialising in Customer Information. He has wide experience working with large and small organisations across Australia, Europe, US and Asia Pacific.
Herman is the General Manager Commercial & Master Data Governance for BOC (member of The Linde Group) based in Sydney, NSW. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and an MBA from Macquarie Graduate school of Management. He has a long history within BOC and has worked in various areas within the business. These areas have been in finance, customer service, logistics, engineering, program management and most recently data management & governance. In 2012 Herman lead the local business data migration team through the preparation and implemented new operating platform and together with the business instilled an effective and working data governance framework. This framework is now an active pillar of the business and continues to work actively with the various functions.
Herman is married to Jenny and they have two children, Chris and Michelle who are both teenagers with Chris at university and the Michelle in year 11. He enjoys squash, cycling and golf if he gets the time.
Dean Jones has over 16 years of experience developing and maintaining Business Intelligence and Software solutions in industries as varied as FMCG, Wine and Health Clubs and is currently the Information and Innovation Manager at Yum Brands South Pacific.

Mark Kortink has worked in the IT Industry since 1985. Mark is currently the Information Architecture Manager at Telstra. His past experience includes being CIO of a bank, running large projects, managing the information management division of the consultancy Simsion Bowles, and extensive experience in many and various consulting assignments.

Mohammad Mirshamsi, Lead Consultant in BackOffice Associates, is a passionate data quality veteran with over 26 years of work experience focussing on information governance, data migration and development. As well as having presented at previous conferences / seminars (including on the specific topic of MDM), Bruce has run numerous workshops and training sessions over the years.
Ken Self is Shell's Data Strategy and Standards Manager. In this global role he is responsible for continually improving data processes and content standards to drive data quality improvements and enable efficient operations, effective controls and maximum value for Shell's businesses. This includes development and implementation of data quality standards and KPIs for data processes, analysing the cost of poor data quality, developing a data quality curriculum, and comparing Shell's data quality performance against best practices.
Ken has been with Shell since 1985 based in Melbourne and has also spent time in Sarawak Shell and in the Shell Downstream head office in London. He has over 20 years experience working in all areas of data management including data modelling, applications development, provision of data management services and developing data management strategies.
He is also Secretary for the IAIDQ Asia Pacific Chapter and attained IQCP certification in December 2013.
Ken lives in Melbourne with his wife as empty nesters and spends as much of his free time as possible either pursuing trout with a fly rod or cycling up mountains.

Mr. Zornes is also the editor and lead contributor to DM Review's CDI and MDM Newsletters as well as the monthly columnist for both CDI and MDM.
