09:00      Field Reports for Top 10 MDG Solutions

Data Governance for MDM is moving beyond simple stewardship to convergence of
task management, workflow, policy management and enforcement. And to make it
even more “career challenging”, the evaluation of Master Data Governance (MDG)
solutions is critical to the success of most large-scale enterprise MDM programs.
Through 2014-15, most enterprises will struggle with MDG while they initially focus
on customer, vendor, or product. Moreover, integrated and active MDG that includes
end-to-end data lifecycle support will increasingly be mandated as a phase 1 MDM
program deliverable. This session will provide an overview of the top 10 evaluation
criteria used by many organisations to evaluate such MDG capabilities— whether
standalone or integrated with an MDM platform. By 2014-15, vendor MDM solutions
will finally move from “passiveaggressive” mode to “proactive” Data Governance mode.
This session will focus on the “why” and “how” of MDM platform technical evaluations:

  • Understanding the pros and cons of passive, active and integrated MDG capabilities
  • Assessing the vendor landscape – e.g., mega MDM vendor offerings (IBM MDPM; Informatica IID, Oracle DG Framework, SAP MDG. SAS Data Governance) vs. best-of-breed offerings (Ataccama, Collibra DG Central, Kalido DG Director, Winshuttle, etc.)
  • Applying a rigorous methodology to product evaluations by applying the MDM Institute’s top 10 evaluation criteria for MDG solutions

AWARD WINNING INTERNATIONAL CASE STUDY

09:50      Database Permit – Data Governance & Quality Framework

The business mandates single version of truth. The ever-increasing footprint of
databases raises issues of data quality and increased cost overhead due to redundant
maintenance and security. The database permit is an innovative approach to data
governance that enables business agility. In this award-winning innovative case study,
Rashmi will share insights into how Metlife:

  • Planned and deployed the framework in three waves over 18 months
  • Created a high level roadmap and provided a framework, which can be applied to any organisation
  • Designed a service model that described IT policy, architecture standards and engagement model with partners
  • Incorporated processes into the operational model to ensure enterprise application development adoption, integrated with project lifecycle (SDLC) and Remedy request workflow
  • Utilised dashboards with KPIs to drive project delivery
  • Managed the human element – communicating, training and managing the team and reviewing performance

KEYNOTE PRESENTATION

10:30       Harnessing Big Data to Improve Governance in a Hyper-connected World

The network economy is here, it’s the next economic revolution. We are all feeling it with new businesses that offer networked experiences like Uber, airbnb and new devices such as fitness bracelets, connected watches and sensors everywhere including soccer players on the field. It is the start of unprecedented change fuelled by hyper-connectivity. Hyperconnectivity is reinventing the world economy; individuals, businesses and societies are becoming inter-connected in real time, leading to a new “Networked Economy” that is simultaneously more collaborative, intelligent, responsive, and efficient with dramatic increases in productivity and economic value. The network economy is digitized and tracked as we measure every move we make in all facets of personal and business life. It is connected – every device, system and service we use. Its transforming business to provide greater customer loyalty, open innovation, and resource abundance. Every corporate business knows that transformation is upon their industry or it is coming as a result of hyper connectivity. At the end of the day, hyper connectivity translates to a lot of data, the bigger and more varied it is - the more important it is to derive trusted insights from it and allow the business to take advantage of it. Plan for the networked economy now, so you can activate, optimise and transform for growth. See how SAP can help with Connecting businesses, Connecting people, Connecting “things”, Connecting data and Connecting processes so you can maximize the business value of your data.

INTERACTIVE PANEL DISCUSSION

11:30      Building Enterprise Data Governance and Data Quality Capability

Although enterprise Data Governance, Master Data Management and Data Quality are
often seen as separate processes, they are in reality mutually dependent. This panel will

they are all key aspects of the same business drivers.

  • Defining and discussing DG, DQ and MDM: features, differences and interdependencies
  • Creating a culture of data integrity – linking people, processes, policies and practices
  • Critical success factors: What are the main impediments to achieving data quality and data governance excellence
  • Lessons from the coalface: If you had your time again, what would you do the same or different?
  • What do you know now that you wish you had known then?
  • And the number one recommendation is…..?

International Keynote Presentation

14:00      Multi-Dimensional Master Data Management

There are critical questions that every enterprise needs to be able to answer about
Master Data Management, which are, “What does MDM Mean? What does it mean to
us? What benefits will it bring? Do we want it? How do we get it?” This keynote talk
will enable every enterprise to be able to answer these questions. This session will
unambiguously;

  • Define, in plain English terms, what Master Data Management (MDM) means and why it is vital for every enterprise to be clear about this meaning. It will define what is ‘in’ and, just as importantly, what is ‘out’.
  • Debunk many of the myths and fallacies that surround MDM that prevent it from being effectively implemented and provide clear, pragmatic business definitions that lead to success.
  • Show how to identify those elements that are essential for successful MDM and explain how knowing these enables an enterprise to build a roadmap to achieve fully integrated MDM across the breadth of enterprise and along the length of the supply chain.
